Sustainable Minimal Jewellery [GIVEAWAY]

Today I am so happy to introduce you to a truly wonderful company, One Happy Leaf. With Spring finally beginning to show its face, it has been truly lovely to connect with designer Anna Anagno and learn more about her nature inspired work (and give a lil something to you guys in the process!).
One Happy Leaf aims to create jewellery the reflects our connection with the natural world. Anna was first an environmental scientist by education and made jewellery in her down time, coming up with organic designs inspired by nature. What once was a hobby eventually became a fully fledged jewellery company as Anna decided to extend her passion for stylist, sustainable lifestyle beyond her home of Perth, Australia.
One Happy Leaf’s designs are really delightful in their quirk, charm and simplicity combined. They’re playful in a way that shows the designer really loved what they thought of, and each piece is unique enough that they have a little something for everyone. You can see more designs here. From abstract shapes to tiny birds and dinosaurs, there’s a beautiful balance of minimal, chic and fun designs in a way that I don’t think I’ve ever seen in one place before. If you want an accessory for a seriously elegant occasion or a hipster art spot, One Happy Leaf has got you covered!
All jewellery is made of eco-friendly bamboo (a material we all know I love), that is Forest Stewardship Council certified. The designs are hand sketched before being transferred to a digital image and cut precisely with a laser cutter. Finally they are hand assembled by Anna in her studio into a variety of beautiful wares including necklaces, earrings, rings, brooches and cufflinks. The stud earring posts are made from hypo-allergenic surgical steel, while the necklaces are either silver plated or made from a bronze alloy that’s nickel and lead free, as Anna works to ensure all her materials are of the highest quality.
While the jewellery is itself sustainably created, One Happy Leaf also works to give back to the natural world. A percentage of their profits are used both to plant trees through the Foundation for the National Parks and Wildlife AND to support animal charities including Animals Australia, World Animal Protection and Free the Bears. Anna is passionate about One Happy Leaf reflecting her values, both in being environmentally conscious and in being a voice for animals who can’t speak for themselves. Pretty neat, huh?
Anna sent me the Eclipse Necklace to review and I’m totally in love with it. Firstly, I’m just kind of in awe at how laser cutters work because it’s not only totally smooth to the touch, it also has this really beautiful intricate pattern which I love. The patterning reminds me of waves and the relationship between tides and the moon; kind of cool that something that is fairly abstract and minimal can still evoke a strong idea of nature and motion so easily (maybe I’m just getting too ~artsy~ on this one, but I don’t think I am). It’s such a simple yet effective design, making it a statement piece that you can wear with just about anything, I can’t get enough of it! Its sustainable and ethical credentials of course give you that extra feel-good factor when you get to tell others about the story behind this necklace, but because bamboo is such a strong material you also know it’s going to last a long time, so it’s a statement but also a solid investment. Finally, you can also customise your necklace somewhat, as you can choose the length and colour of your chain (the model wears 20 in length chain in this photo).
Oh and you know what the best part is? You could win this same necklace for free!
