Ever Wonder Perfectly Blends Craft, Conscious Consumption & Clean Beauty

This post was sponsored by Ever Wonder, and I received product to review. All thoughts my own.

When it comes to conscious consumption, especially in the world of beauty, I like to keep it simple. I like an ingredient list that I can understand, a product that didn’t harm the earth in its creation and won’t after it’s been used, and a transparent story of how this item was formed before it reached my hands. I want clear information, something that works, and pleasing design thrown in for good measure.

Ok, maybe that’s not that simple. But it is achievable, if we know where to find these alternatives to the high street’s toxic stock list. Since entering into the world of conscious consumption I’ve found myself enjoying and caring about beauty so much more. Often the conscious and clean products out there are made by independent businesses, in small batches and in creative ways, combining my love for craftsmanship, and supporting small and local, with a bit of enjoyment on my end too. But, especially when you’re first getting into green beauty, it can be hard to know where to look for these products. It requires either already knowing exactly what you want, or finding someone you can trust to find it for you.

Thankfully new online store Ever Wonder makes this easier than ever before, as they consciously curate the perfect blend of ethics and aesthetics, so you don’t have to.

Ever Wonder is a growing eco treasure trove if you’re interested in beauty, wellness and lifestyle. Unlike certain online wellness peddlers who like to spout pseudoscience about putting jade eggs up your hoo-ha and walking barefoot to cure depression, I immediately knew Ever Wonder cared about the real deal when I saw BY SARAH, one of my favourite trustworthy beauty brands, stocked on their digital shelves. As I continue to browse I was delighted to discover a range of vegan, cruelty free and eco friendly products from a range of small, trustworthy businesses. There were no grand claims that my skin would never have problems again, or that any ailment would be cured. There were simply beautiful no-nonsense products, straightforward ingredients, and a prioritising of people and planet. The simplicity I so love.

And while Ever Wonder recognise that consumption is not the answer to the world’s problems, they also understand that for many people there is genuine excitement to be found in a small batch soap, a moisturiser that smells as good as it works, and a nice bath now and again when life feels a little overwhelming. Their dedication to finding a balance between enjoying life, and not exploiting it, led to the creation of the store that exists today.

The Ever Wonder team understand the genuine joy and comfort that can come from these everyday rituals that we create for ourselves, and they saw a space to make these moments of calm guilt-free zones by selecting and support products that have had an overall minimal impact on the planet. From making to packaging to transportation, they ensure the brands they partner with encapsulate their goal to stock items that can both make us happy, and keep the planet happy too.

And so far, I think they’ve nailed it. Here are the pieces from the store that I’ve been testing out:

Cacao Pow Deo Bar

This deserves honourable first mention because, above anything else, it has been a life changer for me. I have loved my trusty zero waste alum bar for the last two years but alas, recently I dropped it and, as it was a little old, it smashed into unusable pieces. Luckily a few days later this deodorant landed on my doorstep! Created predominantly with organic cacao butter, this aluminium free deodorant bar is made in small batches in the UK, comes in a glass jar, and can last from 3 – 6 months. It’s also beautifully packaged, which beyond being eye-pleasing is genuinely important when it comes to encouraging others to want to move towards plastic free and sustainable products. It’s also cruelty free and vegan, doesn’t stain clothes, is unisex (hooray for scrapping pointlessly gendered products!) and genuinely works.

Although it doesn’t contain any artificial fragrances, a fairly strong smell of chocolate meets you when you open this up, but it’s just from the cacao butter and to be honest, I love it. Sometimes I give the bar a little sniff when I’m not even using it. To use you can rub directly onto armpits, but as it’s winter I’ve been warming up a little bit in my hands and applying from there. Once on you don’t smell like a human chocolate bar, but it really does an incredible job of letting the skin breathe and neutralising odour. I’ve felt completely comfortable and stress free wearing this, and I’ll most definitely be a repeat customer.

Black Tea Body Scrub

I am always partial to a caffeine body scrub. While I’m not actually a huge tea drinker I definitely appreciate its inclusion in this scrub, as caffeine stimulates blood flow and helps skin look and feel younger and fresher. Beyond that this scrub contains brown sugar, which is a great exfoliant, pink Himalayan salt, which works wonders for drawing out impurities or toxins from skin, and sweet almond oil and vitamin E oil to nourish and hydrate. This scrub deeply cleanses, is rich in antioxidants, and just generally defends the skin and helps it renew. Although I don’t live in London any more I am still there somewhat regularly, so I take things like regular exfoliation seriously. Pollution can have some gnarly effects on the skin, and products like this scrub work wonders for combating that. Plus it makes a lovely little gift, and is definitely better than any scrub you’ll find in a typical high street store. Non-toxic stocking stuffer anyone?

Handmade Cream Conditioner

This vegan hair conditioner is sulfate free, paraben free, and was made in Brixton! It contains rice bran oil and olive oil which are extra nourishing, alongside essential oils like patchouli and vetiver. This packaging is recyclable or refillable, and this conditioner literally makes you smell incredible. The cream conditioner is specifically formulated as a treatment conditioner, and is amazing for detangling, moisturising, adding shine and reducing frizz. As someone with long and fine hair, this works absolute wonders for me. Plus I smell really really good.

Natural Teeth Whitening Kit

Apart from the copper ayurvedic tongue scraper, I have the three other elements of this kit which are activated organic coconut charcoal powder, a biodegradable bamboo toothbrush, and biodegradable charcoal infused bamboo floss. While I don’t buy into the hype when it comes to charcoal in food, I do know how well it absorbs, so I like using it for something like oral hygiene where it can detoxify and reduce plaque. I’ve been using the charcoal powder every few days, alongside my normal toothpaste, and have found it to be working pretty well so far. It’s not as messy as I expected, if you use it properly and are a little careful, and it’s very simple to use. I wasn’t as bothered about whitening, but I do think the kit is doing a good job of keeping my teeth and gums healthy and keeping bad breath at bay. The only thing I don’t really get on with is the floss, but that’s because I’m used to using longer bamboo string floss, so this may be something I get used to in time. Overall though my mouth feels healthy and fresh, which is great.

Organic House Clean & Bright Skin Polish

I’m writing this around 15 minutes after using this, and my face smells extra special. This polish contains a mix of coconut oil, macadamia oil, castor seed oil, sweet almond oil and epsom salt, alongside essential oil infusions of orange and bergamot. It nourishes, moisturises, reduces inflammation, and soothes skin. It’s amazing for deep pore cleansing, removing dead cells, make up and pollution to leave skin properly cleansed, brightened and detoxified, while also still feeling moisturised and protected. It smells great, isn’t sticky, and you only need a small amount to use. It’s also naturally anti-bacterial and can work really well for conditions like eczema. Beyond that it’s cruelty free and free from parabens, synthetic fragrances, mineral oils, silicones and sulphates, phthalates, and more. Basically it’s a sweet smelling, fast working, wonder product. After struggling with a few cleansers and make up removing options that haven’t worked well for me, I’m really loving this one. Definitely another one that will be repeatedly purchased!

Overall, these are just a few of the products from Ever Wonder’s selection, but I’ve been really impressed. Each of them work well, smell great, and are focused on transparency and actually working as promised. I’ve been delighted to find things that work well for me, and that I would actually use. Plus, they look good enough that I wouldn’t feel bad giving them to others as gifts, instead I feel they would encourage people to want to buy better, and from these brands. If you’re looking for some winter nourishment, or already jump starting the holiday shopping, then Ever Wonder could just be the place for you.
