Ok, we’re getting close to actual Christmas day now, so it’s time to make something quick, easy and seemingly impressive. Know anyone who loves cooking, or someone who’d love to take their kitchen skills to the next level? Why not give them a homemade flavoured salt set? It takes minimal effort and can be done last minute, while still looking super sweet. This year I’ve made a kit of three, here are the recipes I’ve used.
Lemon & Thyme Salt
Ingredients
- 50g coarse salt
- 1.5 teaspoons lemon zest
- 1.5 teaspoons dried thyme
Instructions
- Using a cheese grater or microplane zest the lemon, making sure not to zest off the pith. Leave the zest on a plate and leave to air dry for at least 3 hours
- Add salt, dried zest and thyme to a pestle and mortar, grind until the salt is smaller and the ingredients are well combined
- Decant into container of your choice
Chilli & Lime Salt
Ingredients
- 50g coarse salt
- 1.5 teaspoon chilli flakes
- 1.5 teaspoons lime zest
Instructions
- Using a cheese grater or microplane zest the lime, making sure not to zest off the pith. Leave the zest on a plate and leave to air dry for at least 3 hours
- Add salt, dried zest and chilli flakes to a pestle and mortar, grind until the salt is smaller and the ingredients are well combined
- Decant into container of your choice
Herbs de Provence Salt
Ingredients
- 50g coarse salt
- 1/4 tablespoon dried rosemary
- 1/2 tablespoon dried thyme
- 1/2 tablespoon dried basil
- 1/2 tablespoon dried lavender
- 1/2 tablespoon dried oregano
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to a pestle and mortar, grind until the salt is smaller and the ingredients are well combined

So easy, and yet so tasty.
Until tomorrow, stay magic y’all.
